2012 Tour Schedules

Share:

Now that Q school season (LET & LPGA) is over, I’m anxiously awaiting for tournament schedules for the womens pro satellite & feeder tours to be published.

Though the full schedule has not yet been published, the LET Access Series is headed in the right direction.  The LET leadership (particularly LETAS tour director DI Barnard) should be given  a lot of credit for developing the Access Series into a very competitive feeder tour.

update:  the LET Access Series is expected to announce their 2012 schedule on 31 Jan

LETAS has already announced new tournaments for 2012 in Finland and in the Ukraine.  The Ukraine tournament is a first for womens professional golf as far as we are aware.  It’s another strong sign of how interest in womens golf is blossoming across Central & Eastern Europe.  It’s also nice to see a LETAS event scheduled for Helsinki, especially since the LET event there which ended in 2011 always had sizable crowds and generated significant local interest.  We’ve already heard strong rumors from players of a couple of additional new events (their home clubs are involved), so it’s really shaping up to be a good year on the official feeder tour to the LET.

If I’ve counted correctly 11 of the 30 girls who earned their full 2012 LET cards at Q school, honed their skills on LETAS during 2011.  Carlota Ciganda, Celine Palomar, Elena Giraud, Sahra Hassan, Alexandra Vilatte, Maria Beautell, Chrisje de Vries among others.  Another 8 or so LETAS alums made it through the final cut.

These numbers show the developments we were tweeting about during 2011 on this feeder tour and to the vision of the sponsors and golf clubs which hosted the 2011 events in their support of the LET and womens golf.

Having spent a bit of time photographing the LETAS players during 2011, it was great to see the hard work pay off for so many of the girls.  Well done all!
